Meet the Running Co Staff Members
TJ’s earliest memories of RunningCo. are from the fall of 1997 when his dad brought him into the shop to buy his first pair of running shoes for high school cross country. In the summer of 2001 he had the opportunity to start working at the shop as a part time employee, and by the fall of 2004 he was managing the shop. Today he is the General Manager of the RunningCo. locations. You can often see TJ running the streets of Collingswood with his son Tristan in the stroller. In his running career he has completed distances from 5k-Half Ironman with some Tough Mudders and Adventure races thrown into the mix.
The man behind the legacy that is the South Jersey Running Companies, Dave. A long time Haddon Township local, graduating from Haddon Township Highschool where he ran Cross Country and Track all four years focusing on the 400m Hurdles, 400m, and 800m, all while still being able to compete in the longer distance events as well. After graduating from Haddon Township in 1995, Dave continued his education and running at Lehigh University. He claims he was “awful” at running in college, recruited as a hurdler, he do not compete in Cross Country until junior year, and quickly found out the Division 1 competition was very steep. In the four years competing at Lehigh, Dave competed in a wide range of events. He was part of the previous record holding Shuttle Relay team, and placed 7th in the Patriot League in the 3000m Steeple, 400m Intermediate Hurdles, and 1000m, 7th place being the first athlete to not receive an award. Dave graduated from Lehigh in 1999 with his B.S. in Material Engineering and soon after, continued on to to get his M.S in Polymer Engineering in 2001. After college, things started to change. Dave worked as an engineer for IBM in New York City and loved his job and his co-workers. Still hungry after college for some race PRs, he went onto run and win the Duchess Country Half-Marathon in a time of 1:11. Dave and his team also went onto win the Penn Relays Corporate Distance Medley Relay. After working at IBM, Dave went on to take what he thought was his dream job with New Balance as a Footwear Engineer at their Boston Headquarters. After about 2 years and numerous trips to China, Dave realized he was really starting to miss home. Being an only child, his friends are his family, and being a die hard Philadelphia sports fan, it was hard being in New England territory. Dave decided to come back to his hometown in Haddon Township and took a huge risk to do something he’d love to do, own a running store. Taking out a loan against his house, he purchased the Haddonfield running company, no one even had known he had done this until he arrived back home. Dave lived in the back of the store for over an entire year while trying to model and improve upon it, until eventually moving in with TJ. In a few years time, it all proved to be worth it. In 2006, Dave and the staff opened up the second location, Mullica Hill Running Co. (formerly known as South Jersey Running and Triathlon). Continuing on to open up Moorestown running company in 2007 after Bob Bickel approached him and pitched the idea. Seven years later in 2014, the fourth location was born, Medford Running Co. Today, Dave continues to own and operate the stores along with all of the staff. His love for running still continues as he went on to place second in both the 800m (2:03.6) and the 1500m (4:15.28) at 2017 USATF National Masters T& F Championship in Baton Rouge, LA. He continues attending Eagles games as well as other Philadelphia sports games, putting on awesome races such as the Haddonfield Adrenaline 5k, and being the awesome owner we know and love in one of the best places to be a runner, South Jersey.
In May of 2017, Ed will be celebrating his 10th anniversary with Runningco. From the very first group run at the Moorestown store Ed has loved working with the running community in South Jersey; he splits his time between the Moorestown and Haddonfield location each weekend and especially likes working with our beginning runners lending advice and encouragement. Ed also likes directing and promoting local races through Runningco. Ed has run over 50 marathons, 8 ultramarathons and a whole bunch of other races; he hasn’t won a race since the 5th grade – it’s the process he loves – the outcome is a bonus.

Jon grew up in South Jersey running at Cinnaminson High School. After college he joined the military and was stationed in Colorado where he spent the last 7 years. In between deployments and military training he spent his time running and hiking in the mountains in search of new trails and alpine lakes. Now that he’s back in south Jersey you can find him coaching at Cinnaminson or running his favorite trails (Palmyra Nature cove or the Pinelands).
Anita works 3 miles from our Moorestown store and lives 2 miles from our Haddonfield store. So naturally it was only a matter of time before she became a regular shopper at RunningCo. Anita joined our family in March, 2014 as one of the Team Tindall head coaches and a co-host of our Saturday morning group runs in Moorestown. Off the roads, she’s very passionate about Jesus Christ, all kinds of food and anything related to STEM. A middle distance runner and lover of the track in college, Anita now names the marathon as her favorite event to run. After completing both the Boston and Chicago marathons in 2015, she aspires to run all of the World Major marathons before giving up the gruesome training.
Shortly after graduating from Millersville University, Glen returned home to Haddon Township and entered the world of running as a way to stay in shape and stay active. Never much of a distance runner he soon found that packing on the miles was not only a good way to stay in shape but also a great stress reliever as well. Barely being able to run a mile in the beginning, Glen would slowly but surely add in a few extra street blocks each time out. Soon, without even noticing, he was cruising the streets of Haddon Township doing 8 – 10 miles at a time. In 2014, at the inaugural Philadelphia Love Run, Glen completed his 1st half marathon. Glen joined the RunningCo. family as a manager in May of 2015. Currently, Glen enjoys doing local 5K’s and you can usually find him grabbing a refreshing craft beer as a reward after a race.

He has been an active alum with Rowan Men’s Cross Country team and an Associate Coach for the team after finishing 10th at NCAAs in the Men’s steeplechase in 2015. He continues to run for Breakneck Track Club and around the streets of South Jersey to this day!

She has run through high school, college at West Virginia University, and motherhood. A late comer to the running scene, Shawn began running as a means to loss weight. She continues to run to maintain her curvy figure. Mixing it up, Shawn enjoys adventure races such as the Tough Mudder and Spartan Race series. What’s a day without a little mud, barbed wire, hills, and electric shocks? Her favorite race is the Men’s Health Urbanathlon and wishes they would bring back the Chicago location. In the meantime, she will continue to rehab her chronic IT Band issue and you might find her hobbling through her run in an area near you.
Ralph Harris has been a part of the RunningCo. family for over ten years and a South Jersey running representative for twenty. Starting at a young age Ralph terrorized the mean streets of Runnemede on foot. He’s actually the undisputed, self proclaimed youngest human to ever learn to run. Soon after, he discovered organized running and eventually led the high powered Triton Mustangs to many team successes in cross country and track. Throughout the years following high school Ralph has remained close to the sport, coaching at the high school level, working with individual athletes, and dabbling from time to time in various distances from the mile to the Marathon.
You can currently find Ralph at any of our stores (depending on the day of course) Sharpening his jump rope skills and planking for time. He is also sporting a powerful beard and lately, a mohawk.
